Internship Opportunities

Destiny Services, Inc. offers a variety of selective internship opportunities at our Petersburg, VA headquarters. We welcome you in considering our internships hands-on learning experiences. If you intern with us, you'll get a wide range of experience as well as access to staff members who can help coach you and teach you practical skills to supplement your education.

Our internship opportunities are flexible to work with you. All interns are expected to work at least 20 hours per week. However, interns who work closer to a full-time work schedule typically learn more. Opportunities are generally available year-round.

Destiny Services is in search of a Direct Support Professional to join our Chesterfield, VA Residential Team. Duties include providing supervision, instruction and assistance in daily living skills to individuals with intellectual disability in a group home setting. This position is shift work involving all waking hours and may include overnight shifts—hours vary Monday through Sunday to include evenings, weekends and holidays.

Destiny Services is in search of a Van Driver/MH Technician to join our Petersburg, VA Office team. Duties include providing transportation, dietary, and supportive services that include working with individuals in the psychosocial program. More specifically, this position will monitor and care for persons being transported, perform routine safety inspection and maintenance checks on agency vehicles, keep mileage logs and other reports as required including maintenance logs, complete and submit billing in accordance with services delivered to individuals, coordinate van schedules with staff members as required, etc. Additionally, this position assists staff with client activities in a group setting providing support to counselors instructing and assisting individuals in daily living skills, medication management, health monitoring, socialization skills, access to community resources, etc.

    Destiny Services is in search of a Mental Health Counselor to join our Petersburg, VA Office team. Duties include providing training and support to individuals with mental illness. More specifically, this position will work with adults within the community providing instruction and assistance in daily living skills, medication management, health monitoring, access to community resources, etc. Additionally, this position assists with the development of treatment plans, completion of quarterly reviews and maintains regular documentation of service delivery. It is important to note, this position requires counselors to transport their assigned individuals in their personal vehicles during delivery of services. The Agency does not reimburse for mileage as counselors are encouraged to track their mileage associated with the performance of their duties in order to report it on their taxes.
